Good Physiotherapy news

I have talked recently a little about my physio searches.

Well it's been pretty successful.

A few weeks ago i had a meeting with a sports physio. We discussed the kind of think i was looking for, and although he had no experience with people with spinal cord injury, he was pretty spot on, and i felt we were very much on the same wavelength.

The next day i had another meeting at a specialist mobility centre that my aunt told me about. They normal see people that have lost limbs, or chicken with mobility problems, so i wasn't expecting too much. However it was the most positive meeting i have ever had.

Although unsure of working with my injury and not necessarily having anything in place to help, the doc didn't dismiss me and say he couldn't help, he thought of every possible way he could.

From sending me along with a team to a spinal unit to get a program, to bringing in specialist physio, getting the neurology docs involved, idea after idea.

He then introduced me to a wheelchair guy, to see about getting a new chair.

It was just so refreshing to be listened to, and to find someone as enthusiastic as i am. I left with such a happy, excited buzz.

He did warn that it might take a little while to get sorted, so in the mean time i'm having weekly sessions with the sports physio.

I've had 2 now., It's great, it hurts but, no pain no gain. It's all very similar to what i did in hospital.

So we will see.

I don't expect miracles, but i'm excited and ready to work.

  1. That's great! It's so important to receive good help from genuinely interested people in these cases. I wore a corset 24/7 for a while because of scoliosis, and although it's not as serious as your situation, I do understand how important the attitude of the people you meet in these situations.

  2. I'm glad things are looking up for you and someone's finally listening <3

  3. Hi there! It's me again. I haven't been on your blog for quite some time, I do apologise. You probably won't even remember me, I used to blog so little.

But I am back to blogging now, and I am just dropping by people's blogs. I saw this entry straight up and just wanted to say that I am so glad that you have got a really decent doctor who will do everything he can to help. They tend to be rare, so hang ont him!

Good luck with the treatment! I really hope it goes well for you!

Thankyou :)
I tend to always comment back here, so pop back for a replay =D
